FODJ Summer Fair 2017

Summer fair

FODJ is holding a Summer Fair and Picnic on July 7th. Come and share some food and some laughs, and if you are able, lend a hand! We have lots of jobs (some big, some small) available in the lead-up to the event and on the day – have a look at the form below and let us know what you are able to do.

Come and be a part of the fun team who help put the event on, and help to raise some funds for our school and children!

Save Our Schools! Join the School Assembly on 26th May

SOS leaflet.png

Save Our Schools are a rapidly-growing Brighton and Hove-based group of parents, teachers and heads who want to protect our schools from massive funding cuts and ensure every child’s right to a decent education.

Across the country, entire schools will come together in mass picnic gatherings to show just how many of us oppose the funding cuts. SOS are holding a School Assembly on May 26th May at 3:30 pm at The Level, Brighton. Bring your children, a picnic, a pen and paper and join other parents, heads, teachers and support staff in a city-wide School Assembly.

When and where? Take your pick from two Assemblies in Brighton & Hove: The Level from 3.30pm to 5.30pm and Victoria Park, Portslade from 3.30pm.

This is a brilliant opportunity for heads, teachers, parents and children to come together and have fun as a community. It’s not a school trip, so ALL children must be accompanied by a responsible adult! Let’s get together and make sure politicians from all parties know that we will not stand by and let our children become the lost generation. Join SOS and take action now. www.facebook.com/saveourschoolsuk @saveschoolsuk

Please help us by signing up to run a stall, “Kids loved adventuring into the underground shelter and experiencing a glimpse of what the 40s must have been like”… we all had great fun last time and really got into the spirit of the 40’s, mucking in to make a truly memorable community event.

So please sign up yourselves and other family members too if you like (if you put in the notes we can put you together on a stall or nearby) The form takes seconds to fill in and we will be in touch with you nearer to the event.

FODJ Winter Fair 9th Dec Friday 3.30pm-5.30pm. Come along and join the fun!

WHEN: Friday 9th Dec 3.30pm – 5.30pm
WHERE: The school canteen
WHAT: VOLUNTEER HERE

xmas-fair-2016Santa does his best, but he’s stressed. He’s got a few backroom staff, a couple of IT geeks, nine smelly reindeer, plus a factory full of overworked elves, but they’re tiny and on zero hours contracts.

Santa needs our help with Mr Franceschi’s Christmas list, because he’s asking for a sack of iPads. That’s what Downs Juniors needs (to replace some that are running down) and not just so the kids can watch Dan TDM or play Minecraft like they do at home. No, the school needs them so the kids can learn history and geography and literature and respect for their elders and not to bully their parents and… Loads!

So how can you help? I’m glad you asked. You can volunteer to help at the Winter Fair on December 9th after school. We need you to bake, donate a raffle prize, run a stall, help in the kitchens – something! Anything! Just help by filling in the lovely VOLUNTEER FORM

And don’t think you get out of it if you don’t believe in Santa or Jesus, because everyone believes in Winter (if not then try going out in shorts). So if Hanukkah is your thing, or Kwanzaa or Diwali or Pagan Yule or Liz at 3pm then volunteer, and show the world that Winterval is about generosity of spirit. Ho Ho Hope you sign up.

PS: Non uniform day in return for chocolate donations for the EPIC chocolate-lucky-dip-TOMBOLA confirmed as Weds 7 December.
